A teleprompter app for Mac helps a webinar presenter when the script stays on your screen and attendees see the slides window and nothing else. With Aitho on a Mac you work in the browser: export the Keynote deck to PDF, import it, rehearse out loud, then share the Audience Stage window, not your whole screen, and check the result from an attendee's view.
What this setup is for
This guide is for a presenter giving a slide talk on a webinar or video call from a Mac. You want private words close to the camera, slides that keep pace with you, and no risk of the script appearing in the shared view. Aitho on a Mac runs in the browser at present.aitho.app; there is no separate Mac app to install. (On iPhone and iPad there is an app.)
Get the Keynote deck in
Aitho imports PDF and PowerPoint files, so export from Keynote before importing: File, then Export To, then PDF. Check the PDF in Preview: builds may arrive as finished slides, and video on a slide does not play from a PDF. The Keynote guide covers what the export changes and how to duplicate slides for a build that matters.
Arrange your Mac for the call
- Two windows, two jobs. The Presenter View is yours: script and controls. The Audience Stage window shows the slides and nothing else.
- Script near the camera. Place the Presenter View at the top of the screen, close to the built-in camera, so your eyes stay near the lens while you read.
- Microphone. Allow the microphone when the browser asks. On the web, your voice goes to your browser's own speech service, or to Aitho's own servers if you choose that mode.
- Notifications off. Turn on a Focus mode so nothing pops up mid-sentence.
Rehearse before the webinar
- Out loud, at your desk, with the call app closed. Check that each slide arrives where it should.
- A timed run. Compare it with your slot using the talk length calculator, and cut points rather than speeding up.
- A question break. Stop for thirty seconds as if answering a question in the chat, then pick up again. The script should wait for you.
Share the right window, then test it
In your talk, click Present and choose On a video call, pick your meeting app, and open the Audience Stage window. In the meeting, share that window, not your whole screen and not the Presenter View: both of those would show your script. Then ask a colleague to join as an attendee for two minutes and confirm what they see: the slides, moving as you speak. If the wrong window ever gets shared, one key blanks everything private.
A recovery checklist
- The attendee sees your desktop: stop sharing and share the Audience Stage window again.
- The slides stop moving: move them by hand, or say "next slide", and keep talking.
- The browser loses the microphone: check the site's microphone permission, then reload the talk.
- Keep a one-line-per-slide outline beside the keyboard.
Do it with Aitho
- Sign in at aitho.app in your Mac browser and import the PDF (Talks, then Import).
- Add your script. Paste what you'll say on each slide, or use Draft with AI for a draft from your slides that you edit into your own words (AI drafts are in Pro and Presenter Pro).
- Rehearse. Press Start and speak; the script follows your voice and each slide advances when you reach its words.
- Present on the call. Open the Audience Stage window and share that window in your meeting.
- Practise questions. Attach your notes to the talk and type a likely question; a suggested answer from your own material appears on your screen. The free plan includes three to try.

Aitho runs in a browser on a Mac at present.aitho.app, and has apps for iPhone and iPad. Import your deck as a PDF or PowerPoint file and rehearse out loud.

Yes, through export. Save the Keynote deck as a PDF, import it into Aitho, and share the Audience Stage window in your meeting while the script stays on your screen.
