Teleprompter for Google Meet: keep your script private while presenting slides

Google Slides is where you build; Google Meet is where you present. Keep those two jobs apart, share a single window, and your notes stay yours.

Short answer

A teleprompter for Google Meet works when your slides are shared in a single window and your script sits in a separate window that Meet does not see. Build in Google Slides, present from a window you share as "a window" rather than your entire screen, and check the microphone and attendee view before a full run.

Building slides is not presenting them

Google Slides has speaker notes and its own presenting mode, and if you are presenting from a single screen those notes can be hard to keep private. The cleanest setup separates the two jobs: Google Slides is where you write and design; a separate window is what you share in Meet, and your script lives in a third place the share cannot reach.

Get the deck out of Google Slides

For a voice-following rehearsal, download the deck: in Google Slides, choose File, then Download, then PDF document. The Google Slides rehearsal guide walks through the export and import.

Share a window, not your entire screen

In Google Meet, use the share-screen button and, in the picker, choose a window rather than your entire screen, then select the window with your slides. Sharing the entire screen while a script is open shares everything. A window keeps the choice simple: the script window is not selected.

Check before the full run

  • Microphone. Choose the same microphone in Meet and in your teleprompter, and speak a few lines to see the script follow.
  • Attendee view. Join from your phone or ask a colleague, and confirm they see the slides, see them change, and see nothing of your script.
  • Browser permissions. Sharing from a browser can ask for screen-recording permission on some systems. Grant it before the meeting, not during it.

Private-note checklist

  • Script in its own window, under the webcam, not selected when you share.
  • Notifications and chat pop-ups off.
  • Other tabs with private material closed.
  • A one-line-per-slide backup on paper.
  • A practised recovery: stop presenting, then share the right window again.

Present on Google Meet with Aitho

  1. Import the deck. Import the PDF you downloaded from Google Slides (or a PowerPoint file) and add your script, or use Draft with AI for a draft from your slides (in Pro and Presenter Pro).
  2. Open the Audience Stage window. Click Present, choose On a video call, pick Google Meet, and open the Audience Stage window. Your Presenter View keeps your script and controls.
  3. Share that window in Meet. Share the Audience Stage window, not your whole screen and not the Presenter View, since both show your script.
  4. Start and speak. The script follows your voice and each slide advances when you reach its words; remote viewers see the slides move as you speak.

If the wrong window ever gets shared, one key blanks everything private. See present on Zoom, Teams or Meet. Free to start: the free plan includes the voice-following script, your own PDF or PowerPoint (or the sample talk), any browser plus the iPhone and Android apps, spoken slide commands, and three private answers to try. Free needs no card. Current plans are on the pricing page.

Questions

Does Aitho work with Google Meet?

Yes. Open the Audience Stage window from your talk and share that window in your meeting. Remote viewers see your slides, moving as you speak, while your script stays in your Presenter View.

Is there a teleprompter for Google Slides?

You can rehearse a Google Slides deck in Aitho by downloading it as a PDF and importing it. The script follows your voice and each slide advances when you reach its words.

How do I see my notes without the audience seeing them in Meet?

Keep the notes in a separate window and share just the slides window by choosing a window, not your entire screen, when you share.

What should I check before presenting on Meet?

The microphone, the attendee view from a second device, browser screen-sharing permission, and that notifications are off.
