Test any teleprompter app with the deck for your next talk and check seven things: whether it follows your voice through pauses and skips, whether it works with your slides or only a script, who sees what, how it gets onto the room screen or call, whether it runs on the devices and connection you will have, what happens when the questions start, and what it costs and how you cancel. Aitho covers the slide side of this and is free to start, so you can run the whole checklist before deciding.
1. Does it follow your voice, including pauses and skips?
A fixed scroll speed is a common reason teleprompters feel stressful to present with. Nerves speed you up, a question slows you down, and the text drifts away from what you are saying. A voice-following app listens and moves the script with you.
Test it: read a minute out loud, pause for five seconds, then skip a sentence and go back to an earlier one. The script should wait, then find you. In Aitho, your place is highlighted as you speak, and it catches up if you skip ahead or circle back.
2. Does it work with your slides, or only a script?
Many teleprompters are built around a script and a camera. If your talk has slides, a script-only app leaves you running two things at once: the prompter and the clicker.
Test it: import your actual deck. Aitho takes PDF or PowerPoint (Keynote and Google Slides decks export to PDF first) and never edits your file. Each slide advances when you reach its words, and spoken commands like "next slide" and "go to slide 3" work too.
3. Who sees what?
Your script belongs on your screen. Your slides belong on theirs. If an app shows both in one window, one wrong share or one mirrored display puts your notes on the projector.
Test it: run a test call with yourself, share the way you will on the day, and look at what the other side sees. In Aitho, your script stays in a private Presenter View and the audience sees a slides-only Audience Stage.
4. How does it get onto the room screen or the call?
Venues often hand you a laptop that is not yours, and webinars often have someone else running the slides. Check how the app copes with that before the day.
In Aitho, whoever runs the room screen opens aitho.app/cast and enters your talk's 6-digit code. It shows only your slides, and they move as you speak. On Zoom, Teams or Meet, you share the Audience Stage window.
5. Does it run on the devices and connection you will have?
Rehearse on the exact setup you will use: the same laptop or phone, the same browser, the same network if you can. Some apps need a connection for voice-following and some do not.
Aitho runs in a web browser, in the iPhone app and in the Android app, with one account across them. In the iPhone and iPad app, following your script works offline. In the browser and on Android it needs a connection, and so do the room screen and answers to questions.
6. What happens when the questions start?
Your script ends before the Q&A does, and the questions are often where a talk is won or lost. A script-only teleprompter has nothing to show you here.
In Aitho, when a question comes, a private answer drawn from your own slides and the documents you attach appears on your screen only. If your material does not cover it, a web lookup can draft an answer and cite the source. Free includes three answers to try; Pro makes answers from your own material unlimited.
7. What does it cost, and how do you leave?
Look past the headline price. Check whether the feature you tested is in the plan you would buy, whether billing is monthly or yearly, and how cancelling works.
- Free, $0 with no card: the voice-following script, your own PDF or PowerPoint, browser, iPhone and Android, spoken slide commands, three private answers.
- Pro, $39 a month or $390 a year: unlimited answers from your own deck and documents, 300 web lookups a month, AI script drafts from your slides.
- Presenter Pro, $79 a month or $790 a year: everything in Pro, unlimited web lookups, a readiness check, and connections to AI assistants.
Paid plans can be cancelled at any time and keep working until the end of the period you paid for. If you subscribed on the web, you can ask for a full refund within 14 days of your first payment. Details are on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best teleprompter app for presentations?
The one that passes these checks with your own talk. For recording to camera, a script-and-camera app may suit you. For presenting slides to a room or a call, look for one that follows your voice, moves your slides and keeps your script off the audience screen.
Can I try a teleprompter app before paying?
With Aitho, yes: the Free plan includes the voice-following script and slide advance with your own deck, and needs no card. You can run every check on this page before choosing a paid plan.
Is monthly or yearly billing better?
Monthly suits a single upcoming talk. If you present often, Aitho's yearly plans cost the same as ten months: $390 a year for Pro and $790 for Presenter Pro.
Does a voice-following teleprompter store my voice?
Aitho does not store your voice audio; it is used to keep your place in the script. See security and privacy for details.
