There is no single best voice-following teleprompter; there is the one that fits the talk you are giving. Three questions to ask before you choose
- Is there a slide deck? Many voice-following apps are built around a script and a camera. If your talk is slides, check whether the tool starts from your deck and moves the slides, or whether you will still be clicking.
- Who sees what? On a call or in a room, you want your script on your screen and only your slides on theirs. Check how the tool separates the two.
- What happens when the questions start? The script ends before the Q&A does. Decide whether you want help there too.

Teleprompter.com. Its VoiceGlide feature scrolls the script as you speak and pauses when you pause. The company says it runs on iOS, macOS, Android, and the web, works offline on iOS, Android, and macOS, and is free on every plan. On Mac, it can keep the script above all other windows during a call, and it includes an AI script generator. A good fit if you talk to camera or read a script on calls, and if you present in a language other than English (it lists 28).
PromptSmart. Its VoiceTrack speech recognition scrolls as you speak, stops when you pause or improvise, and resumes when you return to the script. PromptSmart says VoiceTrack does not need the internet. Apps cover iPhone and iPad and Android, with a Studio Edition for Mac, Windows, and Linux, and a Remote Control app and web-based control room are available as paid options. A good fit for video production and for speakers who want an established prompter with a remote.
VoicePrompter. It matches your speech against the whole script, so it waits while you ad-lib and follows when you skip ahead or go back. It has native apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Android plus a free web app, and on Apple devices says it uses on-device speech recognition and works offline. The native apps are free for up to three custom scripts, with a Pro subscription or a one-time Lifetime purchase beyond that. It lists sales calls, webinars, video recording, and podcasts among its uses. A good fit if you want to pay once.
ProNoto. A browser-based teleprompter with a Voice Follow mode, built for videos, presentations, and live calls. Its Chrome extension says it can float your script over Zoom, Google Meet, or any website or app. It turns notes into a spoken script with AI, and reviews your pace, filler words, and script coverage across rehearsals. A good fit if you live in the browser and want rehearsal feedback.
NEEWER Teleprompter app. A companion app for iOS and Android that pairs your phone or tablet with NEEWER teleprompter hardware. Its AI Follow Along feature follows your speech and moves the script along. A good fit if you are recording to camera with a physical teleprompter rig.
Aitho. Built for presenting from slides. You import the PDF or PowerPoint you already made, and your script follows your voice with the current word highlighted. The slides advance as you reach each slide's words. Your script stays in a private Presenter View while the audience, in the room or on a call, sees a slides-only Audience Stage. How to test any of them in ten minutes
- Use your real material for your next talk, not a sample.
- Read the first minute out loud at your normal pace, then deliberately skip a sentence and go back to one. Watch whether the script keeps up.
- If you present on calls, run a test call with yourself and share the way you will on the day. Confirm the other side sees only what you intend.
- Try it in the room or on the network you will actually use, since some tools need a connection and some do not.
- If questions are part of your talk, rehearse three likely questions out loud with whatever tool you pick.
If your talk is judged or has rules about assistance, such as a pitch competition, defense, or exam, check those rules first. Rehearsing with any of these tools is always fine.
