The short answer

If you are searching for a Teleprompter Premium alternative, note that the App Store listing now names the app Teleprompter Pro, "formerly known as Teleprompter Premium", published by Teleprompter Apps Ltd, with recording, mirrored text for rigs and several remote-control options. Aitho is built around a slide talk: the script follows your voice, slides advance as you reach their words, and the audience sees the slides on a separate screen. For camera work with a rig, Teleprompter Pro fits; for presenting slides, Aitho does.

Make sure you have the right app

Several teleprompter apps have similar names. This page is about the iOS app whose App Store listing reads "Teleprompter Pro (formerly known as Teleprompter Premium)", published by Teleprompter Apps Ltd (App Store listing, teleprompterpro.com). It is not Teleprompter.com, which we compare separately in Aitho vs Teleprompter.com.

What Teleprompter Pro says it is built for

From its App Store listing and website (as of October 2026):

  • The App Store subtitle is "Premium Prompter for Video", and the listing describes it as an industry-recommended teleprompter app.
  • It records video with the device camera and can generate captions (.srt files).
  • Text can be mirrored or reversed for professional teleprompter rigs.
  • Remote control options include a keyboard, a handheld remote or a game controller, control from other iOS devices, and control from a web browser on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • It imports PDF, Word, PowerPoint, TXT and RTF files.
  • The website says it is designed for iPhone, iPad and Mac; the App Store also lists Apple Watch and Apple Vision.
  • The base app is free with in-app purchases, including a Pro subscription and a one-time purchase option.

We did not find voice-following (speech-based) scrolling described on its listing or homepage. For presenters and studios reading to a camera in a rig, it is a mature toolset.

What Aitho is built for

Aitho starts from the deck you already made.

  • Bring your slides. Import a PDF or PowerPoint file (.pdf, .pptx or .ppt). Export Keynote and Google Slides decks to PDF before importing. Aitho doesn't edit your slides.
  • Your script, or a draft. Paste what you'll say on each slide, or use Draft with AI for a draft from your slides that you edit into your own words (AI drafts are in Pro and Presenter Pro).
  • The script follows your voice. Press Start and speak. If you pause, the script waits; when your words return, it catches up.
  • Slides advance as you reach their words. Spoken commands like "next slide" also work, and you can move slides by hand.
  • A separate audience screen. In a room, open aitho.app/cast on the presentation laptop and enter a 6-digit code: the audience sees the slides while your script stays on your phone or laptop. On Zoom, Teams or Meet, you share the Audience Stage window.
  • Private Q&A practice. Attach your own documents and practise likely questions; a suggested answer from your material appears on your screen. The free plan includes three to try.
  • Where it runs. Web (present.aitho.app), iPhone, iPad and Android, with one account. Aitho also connects to Claude and Mistral Le Chat as a connector; a ChatGPT app is in review.

We have not tested Teleprompter Pro with hardware, and we make no claim about Aitho working with teleprompter rigs or remotes.

When Teleprompter Pro is the better fit

  • You read to a camera through a glass teleprompter rig and need mirrored text.
  • You want a hardware remote, game controller or second device to control the scroll.
  • You record video in the same app.

When Aitho is the better fit

  • You present slides to a room or a call and want the script to follow your voice instead of a scroll speed.
  • You want each slide to advance when you reach its words.
  • You want the audience to see the slides while your script stays on your phone or laptop.
  • You present from Android or a browser.

For a speech without slides, a scroll-based prompter can be simpler; Aitho attaches your script to slides.

A two-slide test you can repeat with both tools

Pick the opening two slides of your next talk and write three sentences for each. In each tool, load the same text, read it aloud once at your normal pace, pause for five seconds in the middle, skip a sentence, and carry on. Note whether the text waited for you, found you again after the skip, and what the audience would see. Ten minutes with both tools tells you more than any comparison page, this one included.
