Elgato teleprompter Voice Sync is a feature of Elgato's Camera Hub software for its Prompter hardware: the script scrolls as you speak and pauses if you go off script, on a 9-inch screen mounted in front of your camera. Aitho is software for a slide talk: the script follows your voice on your phone or laptop, each slide advances when you reach its words, and the audience sees the slides on a separate screen. If you record or stream to a camera and want eye contact through the lens, Elgato fits; if you present slides to a room or a call, Aitho does.
Start with the talk you are giving
A teleprompter in front of a lens is built for looking straight into a camera: a streamer, a creator recording to camera, or a speaker on a webinar who wants steady eye contact. A slide talk has a different problem: you need private words and a clean view of the slides for everyone else. Decide which describes your next talk before comparing features.
What Elgato says about Prompter and Voice Sync
From Elgato's Prompter product page (as of October 2026):
- With Voice Sync, "Prompter scrolls as you speak, changing pace when you do and even pausing if you go off-script." Voice Sync is part of Elgato's Camera Hub software.
- "Voice Sync requires an NVIDIA RTX 2060 GPU or newer, or Apple Silicon (M1 or newer)."
- Prompter has a built-in display of 9 inches at 1024 x 600 pixels, and you can drag windows or apps onto it "like an extra monitor".
- It attaches to a desk mount or tripod with two 1/4-inch threads.
- System requirements listed: Windows 11 or newer, macOS 13.3 Ventura or newer, or Android 11 or newer, connected by USB.
- The listed price is $299.99.
Slide handling and a separate audience view are not described on its site. We have not tested Prompter, and we make no claim that Aitho works with it.
What Aitho is built for
Aitho starts from the deck you already made.
- Bring your slides. Import a PDF or PowerPoint file (.pdf, .pptx or .ppt). Export Keynote and Google Slides decks to PDF before importing. Aitho doesn't edit your slides.
- Your script, or a draft. Paste what you'll say on each slide, or use Draft with AI for a draft from your slides that you edit into your own words (AI drafts are in Pro and Presenter Pro).
- The script follows your voice. Press Start and speak. If you pause, the script waits; when your words return, it catches up.
- Slides advance as you reach their words. Spoken commands like "next slide" also work, and you can move slides by hand.
- A separate audience screen. In a room, open aitho.app/cast on the presentation laptop and enter a 6-digit code: the audience sees the slides while your script stays on your phone or laptop. On Zoom, Teams or Meet, you share the Audience Stage window.
- Private Q&A practice. Attach your own documents and practise likely questions; a suggested answer from your material appears on your screen. The free plan includes three to try.
- Where it runs. Web (present.aitho.app), iPhone, iPad and Android, with one account. On iPhone and iPad, following your script works offline; on Android it needs a connection. Aitho also connects to Claude and Mistral Le Chat as a connector; a ChatGPT app is in review.
Aitho is free to start: the free plan includes the voice-following script, your own PDF or PowerPoint (or the sample talk), spoken slide commands and three private answers to try, with no card.

- You want to rehearse anywhere, on a phone or in a browser, without extra equipment.

A two-slide test you can repeat with both tools
Write three sentences for each of the opening two slides of your next talk. In each setup, load the same text, read it aloud at your normal pace, pause for five seconds in the middle, skip a sentence, and carry on. Note whether the text waited for you, whether it found you again after the skip, what equipment you needed, and what your audience would see. That ten-minute test tells you more than any comparison page.
