The short answer

If you are looking for a BIGVU alternative, start by deciding what you are making. BIGVU describes a teleprompter-and-recording app with video editing, auto-captions and AI tools for creators, sales and marketing teams. Aitho is not a video recorder or editor: it is built for presenting and rehearsing a slide talk, with a script that follows your voice and slides that advance when you reach their words. For a finished video, BIGVU fits; for a live or rehearsed slide presentation, Aitho does.

A finished video or a slide talk?

Ask what the audience will receive. If it is a video file, such as a social clip, a property tour or a sales message, you need a teleprompter that records, plus editing and captions. If it is you, live, with slides, in a meeting room or on a call, you need your words and slides to stay in step and the audience to see the slides, not your script. Those are different workflows, and the tools are built differently.

What BIGVU says it is built for

From BIGVU's own website (bigvu.tv, as of October 2026):

  • "Read and record with a teleprompter": the script scrolls at your pace while you keep eye contact, with adjustable speed and text size.
  • Editing tools: auto-captions, split screens, on-screen inserts, one-tap removal of filler words and pauses, eye-contact correction, background removal, B-roll and animated titles.
  • AI tools including a script generator, voice design and cloning, and an avatar video generator.
  • Available on web and mobile, with iOS and Android apps.
  • Aimed at realtors, coaches and marketers, sales teams, marketing professionals and creators.
  • You can start for free, with paid plans.

For people who publish video regularly, that is a full production workflow in one app.

What Aitho is built for

Aitho starts from the deck you already made.

  • Bring your slides. Import a PDF or PowerPoint file (.pdf, .pptx or .ppt). Export Keynote and Google Slides decks to PDF before importing. Aitho doesn't edit your slides.
  • Your script, or a draft. Paste what you'll say on each slide, or use Draft with AI for a draft from your slides that you edit into your own words (AI drafts are in Pro and Presenter Pro).
  • The script follows your voice. Press Start and speak. If you pause, the script waits; when your words return, it catches up.
  • Slides advance as you reach their words. Spoken commands like "next slide" also work, and you can move slides by hand.
  • A separate audience screen. In a room, open aitho.app/cast on the presentation laptop and enter a 6-digit code: the audience sees the slides while your script stays on your phone or laptop. On Zoom, Teams or Meet, you share the Audience Stage window.
  • Private Q&A practice. Attach your own documents and practise likely questions; a suggested answer from your material appears on your screen. The free plan includes three to try.
  • Where it runs. Web (present.aitho.app), iPhone, iPad and Android, with one account. Aitho also connects to Claude and Mistral Le Chat as a connector; a ChatGPT app is in review.

When BIGVU is the better fit

  • The end product is a video you publish or send.
  • You want captions, filler-word removal and editing in the same app as the teleprompter.
  • You make marketing, sales or social content regularly.

When Aitho is the better fit

  • You are presenting a slide deck, live, to a room or on a call.
  • You want the slides to move when you reach their words, without a clicker.
  • You want the audience to see the slides while your script stays on your phone or laptop.
  • You want to practise questions from your own documents before the talk.

Some people need both: a recorded video for one audience and a live presentation for another. Use each tool for its own job.

A two-slide test you can repeat with both tools

Pick the opening two slides of your next talk and write three sentences for each. In each tool, load the same text, read it aloud once at your normal pace, pause for five seconds in the middle, skip a sentence, and carry on. Note whether the text waited for you, found you again after the skip, and what the audience would see. Ten minutes with both tools tells you more than any comparison page, this one included.

Frequently asked questions

Is Aitho a BIGVU alternative?

For presenting slides, yes. Aitho follows your voice through a script and advances your slides as you speak, with a separate audience screen. It does not record or edit video, so for finished videos BIGVU is the closer fit.

What is BIGVU used for?

According to its website (October 2026), BIGVU is a teleprompter and video creation app for reading, recording and editing video, with auto-captions and AI tools, aimed at creators, marketers and sales teams.

BIGVU vs PromptSmart: how does Aitho compare?

Both are teleprompter apps centred on video. Aitho is built around a slide deck and a live audience instead. See our PromptSmart comparison for more.

Is there a teleprompter app for presentations with slides?

Aitho imports your PDF or PowerPoint deck, follows your voice through your script, and advances each slide when you reach its words.
