Aitho
For organisers and AV teams

Run Aitho on your presentation laptop

One setup for every speaker. Open aitho.app/cast on the presentation laptop, enter each speaker's 6-digit code, and their slides follow their voice while their script stays on their own screen.

Before the event

  1. Check the presentation laptop. It needs an up-to-date browser (Chrome, Edge or Safari) and an internet connection.
  2. Open aitho.app/cast once on that laptop, on the venue network, to confirm it loads. Some venue firewalls block new sites; this is the moment to find out.
  3. Tell your speakers to sign up free, import the PDF or PowerPoint they already have, add the words they plan to say, and rehearse it out loud once.
  4. Ask us for free speaker access. We switch on Presenter Pro for your speakers at no cost: help@aitho.app.

On the day, for each speaker

  1. On the presentation laptop, open aitho.app/cast and make it full screen.
  2. The speaker opens their talk on their phone or laptop and taps Show on a screen. A 6-digit code appears (there's also a QR code).
  3. Enter the code on aitho.app/cast. The speaker's slides appear on the room screen.
  4. The speaker taps Start and talks. Their script follows their voice on their own screen, and the slides advance as they reach each slide's words.
  5. Next speaker: enter their code. That's the whole changeover.
The room sees only the slides. The script, notes and any help with questions stay on the speaker's own screen.

Hybrid and online sessions

For a Zoom or Teams audience, share the aitho.app/cast window or tab from the presentation laptop. Remote viewers see the same slides as the room, moving as the speaker talks.

Three things that keep it smooth

  • Use the code, not screen mirroring. Mirroring a phone to the projector shows everything on the phone, including the script.
  • Keep the room laptop awake and plugged in, with sleep turned off for the session.
  • Venue Wi-Fi blips are handled. The paired screen re-syncs to the current slide on its own when the connection returns. Speakers can also move slides by hand at any time.

Questions

Does the presentation laptop need an Aitho account?

No. The laptop only opens aitho.app/cast and enters the speaker's 6-digit code. The speaker's account stays on their own phone or laptop.

Do we need to install anything?

No. aitho.app/cast is a web page. The laptop needs an up-to-date browser and an internet connection.

How do we switch between speakers?

Each speaker has their own code. When the next speaker is ready, enter their code on aitho.app/cast and their slides appear.

Can speakers mirror their phone to the projector instead?

Please don't. Mirroring shows the whole phone, including the speaker's script. Use the code: the room screen then shows only the slides.

What if the venue laptop is locked down?

Speakers can present from their own laptop: open aitho.app/cast in a second browser window, move it to the projector display and enter their code, while their script stays on the laptop screen. Or use Aitho to rehearse and present the usual way.

Is it allowed in judged events?

Judged events such as pitch competitions or a 3-minute thesis have their own rules, so use Aitho to rehearse for those.
